On a glorious fall day we piled into the car and went for a drive. We knew we wanted to head into the Cascades. So we drove to Granite Falls and took the Mountain Loop Highway. We stopped a few times, random roadside places to play in the creek or look out over the mountains.
After this adventure we weren’t quite ready to go home. So we jumped on a ferry and went to Whidbey Island. We drove from the south end of the island to the north end. We hung out at Deception Pass State Park. The boys threw rocks into the Sound and ran from the surf. I looked out over the water glistening in the setting sun. Watched the sunlight play on the boys faces. I looked at Cory with a happy heart. So thrilled that our family was able to create memories here.
