June was a busy month. Cory was out of town for work for 2 weeks and I forgot all about my sunrise photos until the third week of the month. After setting my alarm for 4:30 am for several days I was disappointed each time with nothing but grey skies.
I was down to the last morning I had available to get up and wander outside and then it occurred to me… something so simple and basic… something I remember from years ago, a lesson in school, a realization from being on an airplane one time… where ever it came from the thought was this – no matter how cloudy it is where you are, the sun still comes up, the skies are always beautiful just above the clouds.
This day was no different. The city was shrouded in clouds. The skies parted only a tiny bit and dusty blue skies were barely visible.
… and then, three hours after the “official” sunrise, the sun broke through the clouds. Moments later the clouds started to clear over the Olympics and the mountains were beautiful.
Sometimes that’s all we need, a simple reminder that even when things are grey where you are just above that are blue skies.
