Self-Portrait – February 2012

Last weekend I spent an amazing long weekend in Northern California with my cousins. My darling cousin Jenni is getting married next month. A girl’s weekend wine tasting in Napa Valley was planned. I’m working up a blog post with photos from the trip and details on who went and where we went. So this post is just about this little photo.

It was taken at our last stop – Andretti Winery.

Their website described the winery like this – “Nestled alongside a quiet country lane in the heart of the legendary Napa Valley, Andretti Winery exudes Old World Charm as it whisks wine lovers back in time to a slower pace of life. Modeled after a rambling Italian village, the winery conjures up the boyhood home of its namesake, Mario Andretti, the finest race car driver of all time.”

It was definitely a beautiful property and as I was meandering around I saw a door open and wine barrels all stacked up. As I was peeking in a guy who worked there said I could go in, so I did. Then he offered to take my photo. I realized I’d taken a couple of myself with my phone on this trip – and have lots of group photos – but nothing for my monthly self-portrait series yet. And while I do cringe a tiny bit that it’s inside a wine cellar type place and not out in the vineyard with the sunshine and mountains and blue sky – it’s still a good photo. And it’s what I’ve got. And it reminds me of what a fantastic trip this was. So for all of that. I am thankful.
