I took the boys to the ocean this week. I read a lot of blog posts, articles, and reviews on yelp to help determine where to go. It was beautiful.
(In fact, our trip will be the first in my “pacific northwest series” I’m going to be starting. Be on the look for that post this week.)
I love the ocean. I love the sound, the smell, and the sand.
The boys loved running around, finding shells, crabs (dead ones) and driftwood pieces. They loved running from the surf. And as I ran along with them I was transported to a carefree time. Moments of pure bliss. Time seemed to stand still, interrupted only by a passing seagull or car driving by on the sand.
Knowing that we can escape to this kind of peaceful solitude whenever we make the time for it is such a comfort. The boys are already asking when we can go back… soon, I tell them, very soon.
