Hi everyone. Today is February 12th. So this is a bit awkward writing a self-portrait entry for January. But that’s how my winter’s gone. A little sporadic and I’ve lost track of time more than once this winter. Here we are and Feb is almost over. Which means March and melting snow and spring flowers and be still my heart. My favorite time of year.
You may remember for my 365 project last year I did selfies in February. (click here to see those) It was hard work. I greatly admire those who did self portraits for an entire year. I know I can’t do that. Then late spring last year I stumbled across Gail Werner’s self portrait series. She did one a month. I knew back in July of 2010 I wanted to do that. I’m not sure why I didn’t just start then… but here you have it.
I took lots of self portraits for January. None of them were quite telling the story I wanted.
So one amazingly bright sunny day Gavin and I picked up Desirae and went driving. We drove by a beautiful empty field and I was all set to set the self timer and take some more photos – then decided it’d be way more fun to just hand the camera to Desi and run around. That’s exactly what we did. So granted, it’s not a self-portrait. But it is a portrait of myself. Enjoying winter the best way I can. Running through knee deep snow with my friend.
