I’ve been in business for 18 months. I’ve been taking pictures longer than that and have had occasional clients for several years prior to June of 2009. But for all practical purposes, I’ve been 100% dedicated to starting and growing my photography business for 18 months. That’s not a long time considering some of the photographers I admire have been in the industry for 5, 10, 20+ years. I’ve got a long way to go in terms of knowledge and growth. I couldn’t be more excited about next year. And the one after that. And the one after that.
I didn’t do a “Happy 1 Year Anniversary” post for myself. Mainly cause we were out of town when it happened. Then I decided I’d wait till the end of the year. So here ya go. I’m throwing myself a party and you’re all invited. I wrote a post this morning about business goals for 2011. I didn’t really have any business goals last year. I just went with it. So next year I plan to be more focused and deliberate.
Here are some of my favorite shots from 2009. Some were intentional. Some were accidental miracles. All of them happened the first 6 months of my career. And I didn’t realize it till now, but yes, I was mainly at the beach. That’s what happens when you live 20 minutes from Lake Michigan. It’s a special place for a lot of families.
