Meet David and Jessica, their kids Eden and David Carter, and her parents, Dennis and Diana. It was important to Jessica that her parents be involved in their family photo shoot since they are like second parents to Eden and Carter. I love that. I love that Jessica’s parents have such a strong bond with their grand-kids. I suppose it’s because my grandparents didn’t live close by when I was growing up. I think growing up with regular contact with grandparents and extended family is such a gift to give your children. I know it isn’t possible for many families. I’m glad that Eden and Carter have this wonderful privilege. I’m so glad that Jessica and David wanted to capture it all on film during their family portraits.
Let’s start with the kids. Here’s Carter, 6 years old, all boy, and full of energy. He was easy to photograph doing typical boy things, digging in the sand, running from the waves, making faces. Then he slowed down a bit and his smile just melts my heart.
Here’s Eden, 12 years old, quiet, sweet, and so special. It stood out to me how much she loves her family. Not just her parents, but her little brother, and her grandparents. She’s at such a great stage in life, leaving childhood behind and growing up. The next few years will be full of so much growth and change. You have great things in your future Eden. Never forget how important your family is, or how much they love you.
I love to pull the parents out during a family session for some pictures of just the two of them. I think often as parents our lives are focused so much on the kids and parenting. It’s nice to step back and remember why we fell in love so many years ago. David – it was so clear that Jessica still adores you. Jessica – it was obvious how much David loves you.
Jessica – you are stunning.
Jessica and David – Thank you for sharing this beautiful fall evening with me. I wish you the best in everything. I’m looking to photographing your family again. Here are the rest of my favorite photos.
