It all started when we went to visit my cousin and her family while they were vacationing nearby.

They had fireworks. Cody was thrilled. He held the sparkler, slowly moving his arm, watching it … sparkle… until it burned out. Then he asked for another one.

Gavin wanted nothing to do with them. That’s putting it nicely. Gavin was scared. Petrified. He wanted hid and held and to have nothing to do with the fire. Until they were gone. Then he cried that he didn’t get a chance.

The next day my husband broke out some sparklers and Gavin watched from a safe distance. Then he held one. Then another. And another. We went through 2 boxes of sparklers that night. And repeated the whole thing the next day too. Here are some of my favorite photos from the event.
