This coming Saturday the 5th of September our little town is having a party and you’re all invited.
Take from the press release – “Buchanan, Michigan – On Saturday, September 5th, during Labor Day Weekend, downtown Buchanan Michigan will come alive from noon until ten pm with art, music, shopping and jazz. The day kicks off with the opening of the Farmer’s Market, Pears Mill and Buchanan’s new specialty sandwich and confectionery shop: Sweeties. The evening continues with gallery, shop and business openings, plus visitor receptions and jazz by Greta Pope. In the gateway to wine country, Buchanan’s Front and Main Streets will feature art
and artist exhibitions in transitioning 19th century buildings and under tents. Street musicians will provide a musical backdrop, while shop owners will show fall collections of art, design, furnishings and antiques…”
As most good things happen by chance, this was one of those. A friend of mine (www.alanfore.com) got invited to showcase some of his work. The gallery owner mentioned not having many photographers, Alan mentioned he knew a photographer, she was interested in talking to me. I met with Jan of FRONT Gallery and Jim of http://wyncroftwine.com the following week with a couple of my framed pieces and an assorted selection in my portfolio. They liked what they saw and offered me a spot on the 5th. I have spent the last three weeks ordering prints, matting and framing them; working with my hubby, Cory,(www.corynielsen.com), to build my website; and in general trying not to stress out.
Here we are in our final countdown of days. All the pieces in this post are ones I will be displaying on September 5th. If you are interested in purchasing one of these pieces please let me know. They are available in multiple sizes, framed or not, and even on canvas.
